Pakistan’s Internet Connections Hit 5.10 Million in 2026

Pakistan recorded a major rise in internet access as household internet connections reached 5.10 million in 2026, compared to just 1.9 million in 2024, reflecting rapid growth in the country’s digital sector.

Shehbaz Sharif was informed about the development during a high-level meeting held on May 11, 2026. The government is focusing on expanding IT infrastructure, reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas, and improving internet access nationwide.

The prime minister highlighted the importance of empowering youth through technology, saying digital projects will enhance public services and support faster economic growth. The government is also launching free internet hotspots and e-learning pods to improve digital access for students and the general public.
