Pakistan Rangers on Thursday detained an Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldier who reportedly crossed into Pakistani territory in the Punjab region, according to Indian media reports.
The soldier, identified as Constable P K Singh from the 182nd Battalion, accidentally crossed the international border near Ferozepur during routine movement. Indian media outlets, including India Today, reported that Singh inadvertently moved past the Indian border fence and entered Pakistani territory, where he was apprehended by Pakistan Rangers.
This incident comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, following a deadly attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) that killed 26 people, including a Nepali national. India has accused Pakistan of being responsible for the attack, a claim that Islamabad has denied, calling it a “false flag operation.”
In retaliation to India’s actions, such as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian flights and suspended bilateral trade.
