Pakistan military gave President Zardari a Guard of Honor at the presidential palace

On Monday, March 11, 2024, President Asif Ali Zardari, newly inaugurated as the 14th president of the country, participated in a special ceremony held at Islamabad’s Aiwan-e-Sadr. The ceremony featured an inspection of the guard of honour by contingents of the armed forces.

Arriving at the event in a traditional horse-drawn buggy, President Zardari engaged with officers and staff members of the President House, a customary practice for both incoming and outgoing presidents. Notably, former President Arif Alvi was also accorded a guard of honour upon leaving office.

Prior to this ceremony, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa administered the oath to President Zardari on Sunday. Zardari secured victory in the election with 411 votes from parliament and all four provincial assemblies, garnering support from allied parties. Meanwhile, his opponent, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-supported Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), received 181 votes.
