Over 30 million pilgrims did Umrah during Ramadan

This Ramadan witnessed a remarkable surge, with over 30 million Muslims embarking on the Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, as per a Saudi official. Walid Basamad, representing a state agency overseeing Islam’s holiest sites, commended the efficient coordination among various directorates that provided exceptional services at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

The influx of pilgrims, including many from beyond Saudi Arabia, reached its peak during the lunar month of Ramadan. To manage the substantial crowds, authorities implemented diverse measures, such as allocating specific areas for Umrah rituals and organizing the use of entry and exit gates.

Additionally, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah advised pilgrims to perform only one Umrah to alleviate congestion and uphold order. These strategies were designed to ensure a seamless and secure experience for all visitors to the holy site during this sacred period.
