Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Issued for KP CM Afridi in PECA Case

An Islamabad court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over allegations of making misleading and defamatory statements against state institutions. The case, registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Authority (NCCIA) under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, relates to claims that damaged the reputation of state bodies. During the hearing, Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah noted that the chief minister had again failed to appear despite repeated summons, prompting the court to order his immediate arrest and direct law enforcement agencies to present him before the court. The hearing was adjourned until February 21, marking another instance of legal action after similar non-bailable warrants were issued last month due to his continued non-appearance.
