Maryam Nawaz announces free bus rides for students in every tehsil

During a meeting focused on enhancing transportation in the region, Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, unveiled a new initiative aimed at assisting female students across the province. Emphasizing the government’s responsibility to alleviate the burdens of its citizens, particularly students, she urged officials to devise a strategy to provide complimentary bus services for female students in every tehsil of Punjab.

Furthermore, the Punjab government greenlit a plan during the meeting to introduce 657 environmentally-friendly buses, aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure in major cities throughout the province. Additionally, the Chief Minister was briefed on a separate initiative to introduce 20,000 electric bikes and 657 eco-friendly urban buses in Punjab.

In the initial phase of implementation, buses utilizing a blend of diesel and electricity will commence operations in key cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur. The bike project is set to commence on May 9th. Maryam Nawaz underscored the significance of easing financial burdens for students, particularly in the current economic climate where many are grappling with financial challenges.
