Lt Gen Munir Afsar is the new NADRA Chairman

Lieutenant General Munir Afsar has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) following approval from the federal cabinet. This decision comes after a careful consideration process by the interior ministry’s selection committee, which evaluated three candidates.

General Afsar, a distinguished military officer holding a three-star rank since October 2022, boasts extensive expertise in information technology. His professional background spans service in the Pakistan Army and the United Nations. He possesses impressive academic credentials, including a master’s degree in Public Policy and National Security Management. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing at NUST Islamabad, where his research focus lies in utilizing remote sensing and artificial intelligence for the detection of plant diseases.

Furthermore, General Afsar has earned military accolades in recognition of his exceptional contributions. One notable achievement in his career was the development of a computer application to aid in flood recovery efforts during the 2010 floods in Pakistan.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has held crucial positions, such as overseeing the DG Command, Control, Communication, Computers, and Intelligence (C41) Directorate and leading the Pakistan Army Cyber Command. These qualifications and accomplishments make him a highly capable and accomplished choice for the role of NADRA Chairman.
