KP hospitals on alert after mpox case detected

The health department has alerted hospitals and relevant facilities in the province after a case of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) was reported. Dr. Irshad Ali Roghani, Director of Public Health, stated that the infection was found in a 34-year-old man from Lower Dir district, who has a travel history to the Middle East. The patient has been isolated. He visited Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar for skin issues, where a test at the Public Health Reference Laboratory confirmed mpox.
