During the 2023 World Cup, entry into the stadiums will require ticket holders to possess physical paper tickets. These tickets must be presented at the entrance gates of the stadiums located across the country where the matches will be held.
The announcement regarding this arrangement was made by Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Initially, the BCCI had offered the option of purchasing tickets online. However, they have opted not to accept e-tickets for this World Cup due to challenges faced during the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier in the year 2023 when e-tickets were used.
Despite the current decision, the BCCI remains optimistic about the potential implementation of e-tickets for future matches between two countries, commonly known as bilateral matches. This indicates that electronic tickets may be considered again for series between two cricketing nations in the future.
To ensure that fans can conveniently obtain tickets for the 2023 World Cup, physical tickets will be made available at designated centers. These centers will be set up to distribute paper tickets to those who wish to attend the matches.
Jay Shah also addressed the possibility of game postponements, indicating that some matches might be delayed or rescheduled to a later date due to unforeseen circumstances or other reasons. Fans are advised to stay updated with the official announcements in case there are any changes to the match schedule.
