India Captain Gill Praised Nationwide After Brilliant Test Victory

Shubman Gill earned widespread praise after leading India to their first-ever Test victory at Edgbaston, leveling the series 1-1 against England. The 25-year-old captain smashed 269 and 161 in a dominant display, powering India to a crushing 336-run win. It marked India’s maiden win at the Birmingham venue after seven losses and a draw. Gill, now the youngest Indian Test captain to secure an overseas win, surpassed Sunil Gavaskar’s record. With 585 runs in four innings, he silenced doubts about his overseas form. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar hailed it as a “Shublime innings,” applauding India’s aggressive and decisive approach.
