The federal government is expected to announce a fresh hike in petroleum prices from October 1, 2025, with petrol likely to rise by Rs1.97 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs2.48, sources said on Monday. Kerosene oil may see the sharpest increase of Rs4.65 per litre, while light diesel oil could go up by Rs1.76. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has finalized calculations and sent a summary to the finance ministry, which will announce the decision after the prime minister’s approval. Currently, petrol stands at Rs264.61 and diesel at Rs272.77 per litre, rates fixed on September 16.
