Female literacy rate in Pakistan is just 49%, says PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the urgent need to improve education for girls in Pakistan, where only 49% of women can read and write.

Speaking at the International Conference on Girls’ Education, he noted that despite the rich history of the Islamic world, countries like Pakistan still face challenges in providing proper education for girls.

He called for local and international organizations to work together to create practical and lasting solutions so all girls can attend school. PM Sharif emphasized that education can change lives by lifting families out of poverty, boosting the global economy, and encouraging innovation.

He also referred to the vision of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who believed in empowering women as a key to the nation’s growth and success.

The Prime Minister reinforced this idea, stating that educating girls is not only about improving their lives but also about strengthening the entire nation.
