One person was killed and 11 others, including a foreigner, were injured in an explosion near Karachi airport on Sunday night, which also set at least 10 vehicles on fire.
Crime Investigation Department (CID) Director General Asif Ejaz Shaikh stated that the nature of the explosion is still unclear. However, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar suggested it was caused by a suspected improvised explosive device (IED). He noted that a tanker exploded on Airport Road and that he was in touch with the Malir senior superintendent of police about the situation.
Rescue-1122 official Hassaan Khan reported that one body and multiple injured people were taken to the hospital, with four vehicles completely destroyed. Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed confirmed that ten injured individuals, including one in critical condition, were admitted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College (JPMC), which included a police constable and a woman.
