Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has launched an upgraded version of its flagship V3 model, featuring faster processing speeds and optimization for Chinese-made chips. The move highlights Beijing’s push to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem amid U.S. export restrictions. DeepSeek, which gained global attention for offering cost-effective AI models rivaling OpenAI’s ChatGPT, continues rapid development with this update, following enhancements to its R1 model in May and an earlier V3 upgrade in March.
