Babar Azam needs just 83 runs to break Kohli’s record for the most runs in T20Is

Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Babar Azam, is on the verge of creating history in T20 International (T20I) cricket. He is poised to surpass a significant record currently held by Indian cricket star Virat Kohli during the upcoming series against England.

Currently, Virat Kohli holds the title of the highest run-scorer in T20I history, with 4,037 runs in 109 innings. Babar Azam is close to eclipsing this milestone, needing just 83 runs to surpass Kohli’s record.

At present, Babar Azam stands third among the highest T20I run-scorers, having accumulated 3,955 runs. He trails behind Kohli and another Indian cricket legend, Rohit Sharma, who has scored 3,974 runs in T20Is.

The forthcoming four-match T20I series against England presents a golden opportunity for Azam to break the record and become the first Pakistani player to achieve 4,000 runs in T20I cricket. This accomplishment would not only signify a personal milestone for Azam but also a proud moment for Pakistani cricket.

In addition to his exceptional batting skills, Babar Azam is acknowledged as the most successful T20I captain in cricket history, boasting 46 victories. He also holds the record for the most runs scored as a captain in T20I cricket, totaling 2,452 runs. Azam is just 48 runs away from becoming the first captain to reach 2,500 runs in this format.

The Pakistan team, under the leadership of Babar Azam, will commence their four-match T20I series against England on May 22 at Headingley in Leeds, with the series concluding on May 30 at The Oval in London. Cricket enthusiasts eagerly await this series, as Azam’s potential record-breaking performance adds an exciting dimension to the matches.

Babar Azam’s journey to this point has been characterized by consistent performances and unwavering dedication to the game. His leadership and batting prowess have played a crucial role in enhancing Pakistan’s standing in international T20 cricket. As the series against England draws near, all eyes will be on Babar Azam to witness if he can accomplish these historic milestones.
