Ayatollah Khamenei praises Palestinian resilience in forcing Israel to retreat

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, has praised the courage and sacrifices of the Palestinian people, acknowledging their steadfast resistance against prolonged Israeli aggression, which ultimately led to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and forced Israel to retreat.

In a statement shared on his X social media account on Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his support shortly after the announcement of a long-awaited truce agreement, which aims to end 16 months of intense Israeli attacks on Gaza.

“Today, the world has seen that the perseverance of the Palestinian people and the strength of their resistance have forced the Zionist regime to pull back,” the Leader stated.

“It will go down in history that a Zionist faction committed brutal acts against thousands of women and children, only to be defeated in the end.”

The ceasefire, brokered by Qatar and Egypt, was announced late Wednesday by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. The truce will begin on Sunday and last for 42 days, unfolding in three phases.

This agreement, which could bring an end to Israel’s destructive campaign in Gaza, includes a major prisoner exchange, with 1,000 prisoners from Gaza and several others serving long sentences set to be released.
