APTMA Criticizes Government’s ‘Unrealistic’ Power Generation Plan

The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has rejected government plans to expand power generation capacity by 50% to 64,000MW under the IGCEP 2025-35, calling the $50 billion target unrealistic and likely to lock in costly electricity. In its objections to Nepra, APTMA criticised the demand forecast methodology, saying it ignores ground realities, and urged a realignment of energy planning to ensure affordability and competitiveness in power tariffs.
