Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai visited her hometown, Barkana, in Shangla district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for the first time since surviving a Taliban attack in 2012. Malala, who was targeted at 15 for advocating girls’ education, has since become a global activist and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. Now residing in the UK, she returned to meet family, including her uncle recovering from heart surgery, and visited her ancestral graveyard. She was accompanied by her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, and her husband, Asser Malik.
