At least four people, including the Kurram DC, were injured in a shooting on a convoy near Bagan

Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud was injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on his convoy near Bagan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday, confirmed government spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif.

Barrister Saif reported that DC Mehsud was treated at Alizai Hospital and was in stable condition. Authorities arranged to transfer him to Peshawar by helicopter.

An official stated that at least four people, including the Deputy Commissioner and three Frontier Corps personnel, were injured in the attack.

Police said that Deputy Commissioner Mehsud had gone to Bagan to help clear the road for aid convoys.

It is important to note that DC Javedullah Mehsud was part of a team that helped resolve a long-standing land dispute with a peace agreement. He also played a key role in reopening roads to Upper Kurram.

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the attack and blamed the provincial government’s incompetence and failure.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called it a “conspiracy to sabotage the peace agreement.”
