PIA Privatization: Single Bidder Offers Rs. 10bn for Stake

Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) privatization bid saw only one offer for a 60% stake, submitted by Blue World City at 10 billion rupees ($36 million), far below the government’s 85 billion rupee minimum. Despite six pre-qualified groups, Blue World City was the only bidder. The government hopes to sell a 51-100% stake to reduce PIA’s heavy debt under an IMF-backed reform program.
