The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted a spell of dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms across various parts of Pakistan from May 18 to May 23, offering relief from the ongoing heatwave in several regions.
According to the forecast, a strong westerly weather system is expected to enter northwestern areas and gradually affect upper and central regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.
The system is likely to bring widespread rain along with strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms in multiple districts. Authorities have also warned of possible heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms during this period.
Officials cautioned that strong winds may damage weak structures such as electric poles, trees, solar panels, and poorly built buildings. In mountainous areas, heavy rain could trigger landslides and make travel hazardous on vulnerable roads and highways.
