Karachi Police Accused of Torturing Citizen Over Bribe Refusal

An alleged misconduct case has emerged in District Central, Karachi, involving the Shaheen Force, tasked with protecting citizens’ lives and property. Reports indicate that a civilian, Anwar Ali, was stopped near Ghareebabad railway crossing and asked to pay a bribe. Upon refusal, he was reportedly taken to Sharifabad police station, physically abused, and threatened. Following the complaint, SSP District Central ordered an inquiry, assigning DSP Liaquatabad to investigate. Anwar Ali, a poultry feed factory owner from Gulberg Federal B Area, obtained a medico-legal report from CPLC and underwent examination at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The inquiry is ongoing as family, residents, and lawyers continue to seek accountability.
