A five-month pregnant woman who was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws in Ferozewala, Sheikhupura, has died after succumbing to severe burn injuries, with reports stating that around 70 per cent of her body was burned in an incident linked to a dowry dispute. Police acted promptly and arrested the woman’s mother-in-law, one of the suspects named in the FIR, while authorities continued investigations. Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt termed the incident extremely tragic, stating that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken serious notice and directed the Sheikhupura DPO to submit a detailed report, while assuring that the victim’s family will receive full legal support.
