Tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) between Pakistan and India intensified as both sides exchanged fire for the fifth night in a row. The United States and China have urged both nuclear-armed nations to show restraint and seek a peaceful solution. Political analysts warn that the situation could escalate further along the LoC, which divides Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Pakistan-administered Kashmir under the 1972 Simla Agreement. Pakistan suspended its commitment to the Simla Agreement after India withdrew from the Indus Waters Treaty and took hostile actions like revoking visas, banning Pakistani citizens, and expelling diplomats. Meanwhile, the US State Department confirmed ongoing communication with both Islamabad and New Delhi to help ease tensions.
