The PDMA has issued an announcement regarding rains expected in the first week of August.

In the upcoming month of August, the PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority) has predicted a mix of light and heavy rainfall across the country in the first week.

The PDMA spokesperson mentioned that there is a likelihood of both light and heavy rainfall during the initial week of August. The upper regions of the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej Rivers are expected to experience heavy downpours, while the upper areas of the Indus River and Kabul can anticipate relatively moderate rains.

Within the next 24 hours, Rawalpindi, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur may encounter rain accompanied by thunder, while Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal are also expected to receive rainfall.

Regarding water levels, the spokesperson disclosed that Mangala Dam is currently 84% full, and Tarbela Dam is at 85% capacity. There is a high possibility of significant flooding at Mangala along the Jhelum River between August 4 and 6.

Given the expected rainfall and potential for floods, the PDMA has issued a directive to relevant authorities to remain vigilant and prepared.
