Speaking ahead of the Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand in Karachi, he highlighted the team’s inconsistent performances. This tournament is Pakistan’s first ICC event on home soil since co-hosting the 1996 ODI World Cup. The Green Shirts last won an ICC title in 2017, defeating India in the Champions Trophy final. Since then, they have reached the T20 World Cup semi-final in 2021 and the final in 2022 but have struggled in other ICC events, often exiting in the group stage.
