The Punjab Assembly has approved a bill to increase members’ monthly salaries to Rs500,000, effective January 1.
The bill received strong support and was passed by a majority vote, with members celebrating the decision.
Opposition Leader Ahmed Khan Bhachar questioned its compliance with the Parliamentary Rules Act of 1972. However, Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan assured it aligns with existing laws and praised the government’s efforts.
