Pakistan has confirmed its 24th polio case of 2025 after a 20-month-old girl from Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, tested positive for the virus, the National Institute of Health (NIH) reported on Monday. The child, from Union Council Ping A in Tehsil Jandola and belonging to the Bettani tribe, had no travel history, highlighting local transmission in areas with limited vaccination access. With this case, the year’s tally has reached 16 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six in Sindh, and one each in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan, with southern KP emerging as the outbreak’s hotspot.
