Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has revealed that he resigned from his role due to disagreements over managing Babar Azam’s place in the national team. Yousuf explained that he had recommended giving Babar a break to work on his batting technique during a slump in form, but his suggestion was rejected. “There was a time when Babar was not in form. I suggested that he be given rest so he could improve his technique, but everyone turned against me,” he said, adding that he offered to resign after repeated disagreements, which was eventually accepted. Yousuf highlighted that Babar’s consistency had been lacking for nearly three years and proposed sending him to the academy to refine his skills before returning. He also criticised the national squad after Pakistan’s defeat to India, stating that senior players, including Babar, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan, had reached the end of their tenure and that fresh talent was needed to strengthen the T20 side.
