IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has announced strict fines in Karachi for driving without a valid license, with penalties set at Rs20,000 for motorcyclists, Rs30,000 for car drivers, and Rs50,000 for heavy vehicle drivers. He noted that over 300,000 citizens have already obtained online licenses, stressing the importance of strengthening the system for better traffic management. Karachi’s traffic police are also launching an e-challan system that will automatically issue fines using digital evidence, sending challans directly to violators’ homes and updating details on the official app. To raise awareness, a citywide campaign with signboards, streamers, and educational videos is underway.
