Govt Speeds Up Evacuations as Punjab Rivers Face High Flood

Punjab is on high alert as heavy monsoon rains and rising water levels in the Indus, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers trigger mass evacuations, while thousands in Gilgit-Baltistan still await relief after recent glacial and flash floods. According to Rescue 1122, over 24,000 people have been relocated from low-lying areas since Saturday, with evacuations carried out in Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, and Narowal. Authorities have warned of further flooding over the next 48 hours following India’s flood alert, as emergency teams continue rescue and relief operations across the affected districts.
