Gas Prices in Pakistan to Increase as Sui Companies Propose Tariff Hike

Gas prices in Pakistan are expected to rise as Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) have submitted major tariff hike requests for the 2025-26 fiscal year. SNGPL has proposed an increase of Rs. 735.59 per MMBTU, while SSGC is seeking a larger hike of Rs. 2,443 per MMBTU, covering previous revenue shortfalls. These proposed increases aim to help SNGPL raise Rs. 700 billion and SSGC Rs. 44 billion to meet financial needs. Public hearings on the tariff changes are scheduled in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta later in April. Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is reviewing the proposals, following earlier approvals of substantial gas price hikes this fiscal year.
