In response to the immense demand for tickets witnessed during the initial seven phases of sales, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has opted to make an additional 400,000 tickets available for the ODI World Cup 2023.
This significant decision was officially communicated by the BCCI via a press release issued on Wednesday. These supplementary tickets are set to go on sale starting from 8:00 pm on September 8, 2023.
The rationale behind this move stemmed from the overwhelming ticket demand observed when sales commenced on August 25, 2023. The official ticketing partner, BookMyShow, encountered challenges in meeting fan expectations, leading to widespread dissatisfaction expressed on social media platforms. Criticism was directed not only towards the ticketing partner but also at the event organizers and the BCCI.
In response to these concerns and in collaboration with the state associations responsible for hosting the matches, the BCCI has chosen to release approximately 400,000 additional tickets for the tournament. The primary objective is to accommodate as many cricket enthusiasts as possible, enabling them to partake in this historic event.
While the BCCI did not specify the allocation of these tickets to India’s matches, they emphasized that cricket enthusiasts from around the world now have the opportunity to secure their seats for the cricket extravaganza of the year.
