Pakistan Committed to Peace, Says DG ISPR After India Truce

In an interview with RT Arabic, ISPR Director General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif accused India of fueling regional instability through “sponsored terrorism” and baseless allegations. He emphasized that Pakistan prioritizes peace but was compelled to respond militarily following recent incidents. Referring to the Pahalgam episode, he said Indian authorities blamed Pakistan without completing investigations. Despite Pakistan’s offer for a neutral probe, India allegedly refused and launched air strikes on civilian areas. In retaliation to the May 6–7 strikes, which reportedly killed over 30 civilians, Pakistan Air Force shot down five Indian jets. More missile attacks by India on May 9–10 prompted Pakistan to carry out precise military actions, avoiding civilian targets. Lt. Gen. Sharif stressed that the armed forces acted with restraint, targeting only military sites, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty with unity and responsibility.
