The Indian cricket team has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that they do not intend to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. This decision has raised questions about the tournament’s location, prompting the ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to consider alternative arrangements. One option being discussed is a “hybrid model,” where some matches would be held in Pakistan and others at a neutral venue, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or Sri Lanka.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has expressed reservations about this hybrid approach. He has requested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) outline their specific concerns in writing. Naqvi stated that any objections from the BCCI would be reviewed with input from the Pakistani government before reaching a final decision. Meanwhile, the ICC is awaiting formal written confirmation from the BCCI to determine the next steps for the tournament structure.
