The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reports a significant surge in smartphone imports into Pakistan.
Recent data reveals a staggering increase in spending on imported smartphones during the initial nine months of this fiscal year, amounting to a remarkable Rs370 billion. This marks a staggering 180% rise compared to the corresponding period last year.
This trend underscores a notable shift in consumer preferences towards smartphones within Pakistan’s technology landscape. Furthermore, the report delves into specifics, highlighting a total expenditure of $1.30 billion on smartphone imports from July to March.
In contrast to the previous year’s figures of Rs106 billion or $460 million for the same duration, it’s evident that consumer expenditure on smartphones has substantially escalated. This surge signifies a rapid evolution in how people in Pakistan engage with and procure technology.
