Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Monday called for national unity and a shared identity as the National Assembly passed a resolution condemning the deadly attack at an imambargah in Islamabad. Addressing the house, he said Pakistan must be united on core national issues, particularly in condemning terrorism, and expressed regret that political divisions have weakened collective responses to such tragedies. He also said terrorism in the country is a consequence of past policy mistakes, stressing the need for consensus on protecting Pakistan’s integrity and honoring those who have sacrificed their lives.
